Clap Gira: Building capacities from what we are passionate about

We launched the first generation of our Gira program at the Clap Valle Dorado Center.

Clap Gira is a transformative program for vulnerable adolescents in which, based on disciplines that they are passionate about such as: comics and manga, multimedia photography and video, creative embroidery or robotics and circuits, they develop valuable skills for their lives and the world of work.

The program was designed by learning experts in partnership with neighboring schools in Valle Dorado, Chihuahua and is focused on adolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 who are at risk of dropping out and do not have the tools or support to develop important skills. for your future.

It consists of a series of 12-week workshops in which the participants develop a project while acquiring knowledge of skills for their working life such as Excel, project management, basic finance, communication and digital marketing.

Gira has 6 components that make it effective and different:

  • Creative workshops in attractive disciplines, taught by young instructors certified in active pedagogy.

  • The sessions integrate challenges for adolescents to develop transversal skills that they would not otherwise develop and that equip them for their future work.

  • They receive mentoring and personalized support, focused on setting goals and developing resilience and perseverance. In addition, those who request it can receive psychological support.

  • They have access to the Clap Center, a stimulating space with the necessary resources and tools to work on their projects and at the same time create a creative and healthy community.

  • They receive a quality lunch, which allows them to stay until 5-6 pm without having to go home and back.

  • Contest and prizes for the participants with the greatest progress, perseverance and collaboration.

Before Gira, I spent the afternoon wasting time (...) I realized that I could dedicate myself to this. And that there is much more to learn beyond school. ! – Erwin, 17 years old.
